A dream that became a training centre of hope.
A dream to sustain St. Francis Community Hospital
The Little Sisters of St. Francis envisioned a training school that would generate human resources for health and sustain St. Francis Community Hospital.
Donors fund the first structures
Manos Unidas funded the construction of classrooms and facilities. Fr. John Lange of the Maryknoll Fathers provided steady financial support throughout the journey.
Campus infrastructure completed
Classrooms, the administration block and the skills laboratory were completed, laying the foundation for formal nursing training.
KRCHN curriculum approved
Working with nursing training experts, the college developed a curriculum for Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, approved by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
Approved as a training centre
The NCK approved St. Francis School of Nursing as a training centre for Pre-service KRCHN, with a capped annual enrolment of forty students.
First class begins
Thirteen pioneer students formed the first class, marking the start of a new chapter in clinical education for the college.
HELB partnership opens doors
The Higher Education Loans Board began supporting students who could not raise prerequisite fees, helping them complete their studies with dignity.
Clinical training network established
The college partnered with St. Francis Community Hospital, Kiambu County Referral, Mathari National Teaching & Referral, Mathare North, Bahati, Makadara and St. Scholastica Uzima hospitals.
279 nursing students and growing
The college now serves 279 nursing students. Diploma courses in physiotherapy, laboratory technology and in-service KRCHN training are in the pipeline.
